About Myself, and What I'm Working On

Posted by Kilomatter - December 16th, 2020

Hi everyone! I'm Kilomatter, a solo game developer who's just joined the site.

I do my work GameMaker Studio 2, and have just started development on my second game in the engine. I'll be posting updates here about that game as development progresses.

In the meantime, I'd like to show off my previous work: Jay Walker's Commute Chaos, a downloadable game available for Windows PCs. A download link is available at the bottom of the post.

Jay Walker's Commute Chaos is a simple, endless arcade game where you play as local businessman Jay Walker, who is running late for work. Time is running out, so once Mr. Walker starts running, he will not stop until he gets on his bus.

Although you can't stop, you do have the ability to jump. This is useful not only for dodging oncoming traffic but also for collecting Mr. Walker's loose business papers, which are important to pick up if you want to snag the high score. As you cycle through the stages, they will begin to slowly increase in difficulty. Traffic will speed up and become more dense, and you will have less time to board the bus.

All of this sounds stressful, doesn't it? Mr. Walker thinks so. Over time, you'll slowly build up stress, and the meter will spike if you get hit by a car. When the meter is filled, your speed will increase, and you can build up speed until you reach a Stress Level of 5.

And that is Jay Walker's Commute Chaos. I was responsible for all of the programming, art, game design, and sound effects. My younger brother (who isn't on any platforms as of yet) made the music. If you're interested in the game, use the download link below. And be sure to follow me for updates about my next game, which has only recently begun development.

See you soon,

-Kilomatter
